International Tap Association

Sally co-founded this organization in 1987 at the Colorado Dance Festival in the United States, with a group of tap dancing performers, teachers, historians, presenters, students, and fans. As of this writing, the organization is based in the city of Austin, Texas in the United States.

The association was established to serve the needs of the tap dancing community and promote the understanding, preservation, and development of tap dancing as an art form.

At the time the association was launched, Charles “Honi” Coles was designated honorary chairman, Gregory Hines was designated honorary president, and historian Sally Sommer was designated editor of publications. More (International Tap website)…
